Have seen today a Canon HV10 at £425.00 Comet Aylebury. Marked up as a special and seems good value for anyone within easy reach.

Would have got it for myself but as I do 99% of my filming using the viewfinder I don't like the 'out of line' arrangement where the viewfinder is fixed at about a 10 deg angle downwards. It just doesn't feel right or comfortable for me so I'll wait for the HC7 to come down in price a bit.

Anyway if that is not an issue for you then I think it's a bargain.

You're not the only one! Comet have just knocked another £20 off the HC7 so it's now £759 there - still £65 more than Purely Gadgets, and still a bit more than I'll pay, especially with the price of Sony proprietory batteries... Annoyingly I can get 10% discount vouchers for Comet, but they only work in-store, and the HC7 is only available from them online.

Saw this today in the High Wycombe John Lewis, but like you I don't really like this style of camcorder...

Now if it had been the HV20 or as you say the HC7 I would have snapped it up
