Which mini dv camcorder offers the best auto focus in all situations and which is the worst ?

Re: Best autofocus on Mini dv camcorder ?

Im not sure there is a single correct answer to that question

All camcorders struggle in the dark ( or lower light) since their autofocus ( like that of still cameras) relies in part on contrasting surfaces. Large areas of similar colour or shade will similarly challenge autofocus systems

Good camcorder technique means knowing the limitations of your kit and knowing when not to rely on autofocus and when to simply switch to manual focus
Saying that, Some camcorders are known to be sluggish and hunt even with good lighting
Perhaps a better query would be to name a specific model and ask if any one has personal or close experience of its auto focusing abilities or if there are reviews with specific references to autofocus speed and accuracy

Re: Best autofocus on Mini dv camcorder ?

Even a super DSLR will struggle to focus in a low light condition anyway... :P
