Dead sensor on Sony DCR-TRV22E camcorder?

Hi all,

Just got out my Sony DV camcorder after a couple of years of ignoring it. When I turn it on I get vertical stripes on the sensor image, and no discernable image (though as I zoom I can see the stripes change, so something is happening). Clearly it's not well, but has anyone got any ideas what might be wrong and how terminal it might be?

Cheers

Greg

The TRV22E is one of the models which suffered from the problem with faulty CCDs, see

http://www.sony.co.uk/view/ShowArtic...site=odw_en_GB

You should be able to get a free repair.

Thank-you - looks exactly like the right issue.

Separate issue for me is how I managed to miss the right mantra for google so that I didn't find that or one of the many web pages I now find on it. I did try!

Thanks

Greg

Camera now returned by Sony, working properly, and at no cost. Your advice has just saved me waaaay more than the value of all the time I've ever spent helping others on the forum.

Thanks

Greg
