Copying from PC to HV20 ?

If I used a Canopus ADVC-55 to copy svhs recodings to PC, could I then copy back to HV20 to archive on miniDV tape ?
OR alternatively would it be possible to use the Canopus to convert the svhs directly to miniDV tape into the Canon HV20 ?

Education, Education, Education ..... who was it who said that ?

Thanks in advance
RLT

Re: Copying from PC to HV20 ?

You could do both of these things.

- Once you have captured to the PC, if you render out in DV (or HDV) format, either can be output to tape on the HV20.

- The HV20 has DV input (as well as AV input), so you could feed the output of the ADVC-55 straight into the HV20 and record this to tape.

Yes you would need at least software that "talks" to the camcorder via firewire telling it to take the PCs AVI ( if SD) output. Needless to say camcorder would be in VCR/Play mode. If this works, you will see footage played on the PC in the camcorders LCD and just need to hit record on the camcorder via its remote control or appropriate button or menu selection

If you want to send HDV back to tape you'd need software capable of capturing and editing HDV .Even at that im not sure UleadVS10+ which does actually has a "print to tape" output option. Sony Vegas (and Movie Studio) 6-7 , Adobe Premiere Elements 3 Pinnacle Studio 10-11+( amongst others)do
For SD, as long as the video file on PCs HDD is DV AVI you can use THIS...
For HDV as the video format is not DV AVI, you'll need software that supports it and the likes of HV20 to return the footage back to tape
