Sony HC3 HDV .mpg clips on PS3

I wonder if anyone can help with a playback issue i have with my HC3 .mpg files. I have used CAPDVHS to record the hd footage to my hard drive ok. I then have a .mpg file, it plays faultlessly on my pc but when i put it on a the ps3 hard drive or a dvd the files plays but with a ghosting/slightly jerky effect when panning. This problems is present in both modes 720p and 1080i but fine in 480 .Anybody else tried this?
Cheers guys
Chris

Re: Sony HC3 HDV .mpg clips on PS3

Chris,

I have downloaded HDVSplit which captures your footage as a .m2t file from the HC3.I then transfer it to the PS3 or put on a DVDR as a data track and it plays perfectly on the PS3 and the quality is stunning!.

Doesn't quite answer your question but is a good alternative.

Regards

Richard.

Re: Sony HC3 HDV .mpg clips on PS3

Kind of does..

maybe the use of .m2t with its transport stream header ( removed by capDVHS ) makes a difference to how PS3 reads the file

Certainly worth a go to use HDVsplit instead; I dont own the PS3 but my mate down the road does.. might burn some on a DVD ( data) and give it a go

Re: Sony HC3 HDV .mpg clips on PS3

thanks for both of you for posting you replies. I have just tried the same scene with hdv split but still there is a judder/ghosting effect when panning. I have tried the camera direct via hdmi and plays fine. My ps3 is connected via hdmi i do not have any other method to try. Shame i can not get it to work, the only other way to watch my home videos now in hd would to get a blu-ray writer! But would that play smooth?

Re: Sony HC3 HDV .mpg clips on PS3

If you have, or can get hold of a copy... or wish me to send you a DVD with short test footage from the HC1 PM me ( Im away till Thursday)

Ill try capture from the 2 software and Vegas 7 ( which you could try yourself as there is a trial for down load)

Otherwise I would persevere as it should work fine...Theres got to be a reason lurking somewhere
Good Luck
