There is no "quick" way to make DVDs.
Not quicker than real time anyway especially if you are intending to go from DV AVI on tape to mpeg2
The capturing is real time: No way of doing that any faster

: If you capture to mpeg2 "on the fly" then you cut down the time it takes to encode: Which can often be done faster than real time
For quality though you need to use a decent method
Hardware encoding is not always equal to quality but it may be equal to speed; Canopus makes some seen
Here
which may be what you need for quality and speed
Canopus Procoder Software is also quite fast though and its speed is limited largely by the power of the PC and output quality is commendable
However, Using a Settop DVD recorder ( One on the much better brands ) can be just as good
Getting one with a built in HDD to enable some cut/ past, trim editing can givr you a bit more control
As for angles, you are talking about DVD authoring software: As long as you get into using those, it is difficult to get the encoding process to speed up and still keep quality
As an aside, although I know high quality mpeg encoding is time consuming, Using
Canopus Procoder 2 or even Express.. 15 min for a one minute clip is in my experience, unheard of even if Ive used complex FX and several layers to render and encode
Up to a point there is a trade off betweeen "quick and instant encoding" and quality. For instance if you use Canopus Procoder 2s mastering quality or even Very high quality with 2 pass encoding it will be slower than its "normal" or high speed option ( at the expense of some quality)
However if your starting material is very good, even with High speed encoding you may be pleasantly surprised at how good the quality is.
It also has a VOB preset which speeds things up by going from AVI to a mpeg2 ( VOB) which is Ready to become a DVD
I just used its high speed setting and it turned a 5 min DV AVi to a Mpeg2 in 1 min 20 secs
