Is there a difference with mini dv tapes to hi def mini?

hello,

I have purchased the Sony HC7 for my wedding on saturday, tomorrow I will purchase the mini dv tapes. Is there a difference in paying extra for the Hi Def tapes.
I will put the film to Blue Ray disc when the wedding is all over on Ulead 11+.
Keep tapes though as I read on earlier threads they keep for longer period.

Thanks for your help,

Phill

This is a frequently asked question.

"HDV" tapes are just higher quality DV tapes. In theory they are more resistant to dropouts. Most people use a good DV tape (like Sony Premium) without problem with HDV.
