Dcr-sr200 / Dcr-sr190

Sorry if this is a daft question.

From browsing the forums I see that the Sony DCR-SR200 / DCR-SR190 are pretty much the same HDD camcorder, one being european and one being US based.

Does this mean that they wiil record in a different format ?

ie would I have problems burning the footage to DVD to be played in the UK from a SR200.

Yes... a US SR200 will be NTSC (720x480, 29.97 fps) whilst the SR190 will be PAL (720x576, 25 fps).

You'll be able to do it. You can either create a NTSC DVD (which most PAL DVD players in the UK will convert on the fly to PAL60 which most TVs will display); or in your editor you can convert to PAL.

I've been reading a quite a few of your posts on these camcorders whilst at work tonight they have been most informative.

The main reason for asking is that I will be visiting Florida later this week and was considering buying this model.

Initially I was looking at the SR52, but quickly decided against this after reading a few threads.

I'm still a little undecided wether to buy it here before I go (£470 - web price) or to buy it in store when I get there. Cheapest walk in store price I could find was $747 at circuit city.
