Smile Best Duty Free camcorder ??

Hi all, I need to pick your brains...

I am off to Florida in 2 weeks time to treat my little boy to disney land AND to treat myself and her that must be listened to

I am new to Camcorders, i do have an old sony Hi8 Handycam, but really want something a lot smaller and a lot more upto date.

Hopefully i am going to be lucky enough to watch the space shuttle launch on June 8th so i will be needing something good enough to capture this on as well as my little boy and buzz lightyear

Well down to what i have been looking at... I am after a DVD camcorder and the models i have been looking at are as follows

1. Samsung VP-DC161
2. Hitachi DZMV4000E
3. Canon DC-100

As i have stated in the title of this thread "Duty free" as i am looking to buy the camcorder at Gatwick airport in the duty free lounge and get an even better deal hopefully.

I do need something that is very easy to use as well as easy to play back

Any help will be greatfully receved, thanx in advance.

Regards Si

The Canon is the best quality of that list.

Re: Best Duty Free camcorder ??

That's very cheap - Amazon has it for £274!

This one is similar quality to the Canon DC-100.

Re: Best Duty Free camcorder ??

so would you say its worth thinking about getting the sony or wait and buy new at the airport ?

If i buy at the airport i will only be spending about the £200 mark

Was also told that the sony has a very good optics

Re: Best Duty Free camcorder ??

I'd be wary of leaving it until you got to the airport.....how do you know they will have the model you want?

As for the shuttle launch......you do not get close to it so doubt you would capture it that well. Think the closest I got was a couple of miles.

Re: Best Duty Free camcorder ??

For your budget and a DVD cam, I'd grab that Sony 105. You won't do better for £200 at the airport. Usually the "duty free" prices are higher than a good price on the web.
