too much choice in budget sector???

hi,
am looking at getting a camcorder at around the 200 quid price range just for family events and to have video footage of my son to ruin his life when he brings girls home (quite a few years away)!!

would like widescreen,a good image and be able to edit it on my pc as well as view footage on tv (most of them?).

am tempted by the canon md101 as it seems popular but the md160 seems to get good reviews too.
is the md160 worth the extra? it would bump my budget a bit but is do-able if the extra cash will get me a better unit.

In terms of video quality not much difference with the MD160. The MD160 can take stills to a memory card which the 101 can't. But the 101 can take an external mic that the 160 can't.
