is there any software that will automatically update my vidcam and camera when i usb them?

Probably not: these camcorders are meant to be used worldwide
Im a bit confused though.

They have an internal clock which keep time and date unless their backup batteries run down. These will normally keep a date time on the video

What sort of camcorder do you have?
