Re: Opinion Please On Sony Dcr-sr32 Camcorder

My opinion is that the SR32 isn't very good.

For full disclosure I haven't actually seen it in action, but this is based on seeing the previous models as well as reviews of those, plus comments on the new SR32 like in this thread
Is the Sony DCR-SR32 really that bad?

In terms of quality for the money, miniDV tape is generally best, HDD worst, with DVD in the middle. You can get quality HDD cams (like the Sony SR190) but they cost more. You can get quality DV cams for £350. But the HDD cams you can get for £350 just aren't that good.

If you must have HDD and your budget is firm, it might meet your needs, especially if you aren't too fussy about quality.

thanks Mark, you`ve saved me from wasting my money, looks like old is best for now [tape]. But I`ll look into dvd and dv cams first before I buy. I liked the idea of hdd with the ease of transfer and editing on computer but picture quality is more important. The new camcorder will be used for my son`s wedding in June and general family and landscape use. I have a digital stills camera. Thank you very much, Kevin.

A good price on the Sony HC96, which is a very good DV camcorder here, just over your budget

Or the 3 CCD Panasonic GS230, under your budget from a number of places

Thanks Mark you are a star, I like the spec. of the Sony hc96. I`ll have another rumage in the archives to see if I can boost my funds further through ebay and I`ll be extra nice to the treasurer[Mrs], Kevin.
