Recording Mini-DV Directly to a PC
Is there any advantage is going fdirectly to the PC from the mini-DV connector, rather than going to mini-DV tape, and then playback to the PC?

I was reading something about 4:2:1, which is something to do with the compression used on the mini-DV tapes. Can this step be avoided by going straight to the PC, ie not actually recording anything on the tape?
