Which Camcorder

Help

I need to buy a camcorder.

Have look at loads and I think it between 2.

either Sony DCR-TVR238
or Panasonic GS3B

Sony is Digital 8 and Panasonic Mini DV. Is Mini DV that much better that Digital 8 ?

Is it better to have the 25x optical zoom as apposed to the 10x ?

Which one is best.....

I just don't know which one to buy.

I would always go for Mini DV over digital 8 as mini dv is supported by all manufacturers, while digital 8 is limited to Sony. (Kind of limits your upgrade path if you still want to be using your tapes in future).
