Hi,

Looking to buy a Mini DV camcorder with a hot shoe attachment for an external mike. Have up to £500 to include accessories etc.

Any suggestions?

why limit yourself to one with a hotshoe? You could always use a grip with hotshoe on, which would separate the mic from the camera, less chance of any motor noise being transmitted.

This was one of my requirements though, and went for a Canon MVX330i. Not made anymore.

The Panasonic GS300 has mic input, and a (cold) accessory shoe to mount a mic. It's in your budget

The Sony HC96 has the Sony proprietary AIS shoe which can take a mic, though you are restricted to specific Sony AIS models.
