progressive scan query

I have this function on my camcorder and I know it improves still pics but how does it affect video?

Do I switch it on or off?

On my camcorder, when prog scan is on it does improve the quality of the picture, but will make fast moveing objects slightly jumpy.
The manual for my camera recommends that prog scan be off for video capture.
