Video8 tape replay failure (black out)

[FONT="Comic Sans MS"][FONT="Comic Sans MS"]I have used 2 working sony handycams to replay VIDEO8 tape recorded 10 years ago:

on both cameras some of my older tapes just do not replay - say after about 20 minutes - they just drop out and black appears while the tape keeps running. If I fast forward now, the picture will show, and play fine with the typical blur strips of fast forward mode, which means the tape is not blank. That is good news, the data is not lost. But how can I retrieve it???[/FONT][/FONT]

What to do? Have you come across this problem,
