Sony TRV-140 - opinions?

Looking at this from PRC at £319.

Anyone give me the low down please?

It's a Digital 8 system. Digital 8 is a weirdo "Sony only" system, kind of a mixture between real digital and analogue.

If you can afford a proper DV camcorder, then that's the way to go. Price you quote is good mind.

Cheers

A "proper" camcorder!!

Digital 8 is a variant of mini DV and as such produces equal results. It is certainly not a weirdo system.

I was merely seeking opinions of the unit itself.

Quite right Witters! Digital 8 is the equal of DV for quality.

The 140 is a good machine at that price, but please note that it won't play back any old analogue 8mm or Hi-8 tapes - you need to go to the 240 or above if you require that facility.
