Camcorder for weddings

I would like to get into wedding videography. My question is what is a good enough camcorder for that type of work? For editing I will go with Final Cut Epress & upgrade if enough business is coming to move to another level.

I have a retail miniDV DCR-TRV14E Sony, but don't think it is good enough. To start off with I will price a video shoot/montage to suit people with low budgets, so I know there are camcorders out there worth thousands of pounds, I am only interested in entry level ones to match quality required to film weddings.

Thanks

Re: Camcorder for weddings

There is no definitive answer to that is "good enough" for weddings, but typically one would use a larger 3 CCD model, something like the Sony VX2100, or it's pro model cousin the PD170. A VX2100 costs £1400 here

Or Canon has similar models; e.g.

But it won't be long before your clients may want High Def videos, so you might want to consider something like the the Sony FX7

Or it's pro cousin the V1 http://www.purelygadgets.co.uk/showp...hp?prodid=3232

You could do a decent job with something like the Sony HC3/5/7 which would cost you far less, but they won't have as good low light performance, and with their small size they don't look as professional.
