PIcture in Picture????? which Camcorder

I am about to get a MiniDV camcorder mainly for family but will want to use for trackdays with the car.

Been looking at the Canon MV960 as it has Audio in for abullet cam should I need that facility but one thing just sprung to mind!!

Some vids of track work have picture in picture for front view and rear view from the car. Can this be done with one camcorder and the main lens and plug in bullet cam attached or does one have to get two cameras and then combine the pictures?

I have no AV experience so any help would be appreciated.

Re: PIcture in Picture????? which Camcorder

I'm fairly sure that to get PinP you need 2 cameras and a video mixer or editing software to combine the 2 views.
On a camcorder that has AV-in the camcorders own lens is disabled when recording from an external camera.

I dont know of any camera which will allow you share its image sensor that way.
You will need to shoot simultaneously and edit by mixing both videos with any software with more than one video track offline, Or as Mark has stated online a video mixer is needed

Re: PIcture in Picture????? which Camcorder

Just reading this post got the better of my curiosity regarding PinP as my old Sharp VL-WD450 has this .I just got it out of the cupboard to try it .I thought it must freeze the main screen and allow me to zoom into the small picture on the lower left or right side or freeze the small picture to allow the large screen to zoom .But no , both screens capture the moving image and I can zoom in on the small PinP image .It's been a while since I've used this camera and was'nt too sure what it did . Sorry ,it does'nt help with the original post as I'm sure no camera would be able to shoot two separate images from different angles . So, two cameras needed and editing software . I know Serif Movie Plus makes a nice job of PinP and you can have upto four inputs on the one screen.
