JVC Everio Series

I have had the GZ-MG21 for some time now and prefer it to my tape based Canon, the only disappointment is the 'low light' capability. I am looking at the GZ-M505 and wonder if any reader's have comments on this model.

Re: JVC Everio Series

The MG505 is a much better camcorder than the MG21. 3 CCDs, each of which are larger than the single CCD in the MG21 give both better colour and better low light performance.

But in very low light don't expect miracles; quoting this review:
http://www.camcorderinfo.com/content...erformance.htm

"Overall, in moderately low light, the JVC GZ-MG505 will probably bowl you over with the strength of its colors, even if they aren’t completely accurate. But in very low light, it bites the dust just like every other camcorder. "

I have the MG77, and I'm afraid it's poor in low light too. Roll on summertime

Re: JVC Everio Series

As an aside can I ask what software you JVC guys are using for editing? Pretty much gave up editing stuff from my MC500 last year due to the dire software support for editing in mpegII. Not sure if the situation is any easier now?

I use Premier Elements 3, I am no expert but it seems to be easy to use and produces results which are acceptable.

Re: JVC Everio Series

Just to add to the OP's question - the MG505 is a great little camera - superb build quality, and more than impressive PQ. It will suffer in the darkest of lighting conditions, but then, what CC doesn't!

Womble as linked is a fast, efficient mpeg Editor .
Although not a natve mpeg editor Ver 7 of Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum is worth considering. Certainly Vegas 7 9 full) edits mpeg quite well
Uleads VideoStudio 10 ( Good TBH though not my favourite ) also "smart renders ( if well set up) and is going for £29 at PC World about now ( A £35 cut Why I wonder )

Oh I do have Adobe Premiere Elements 3 but have never tried to edit Mpeg on it, If the man ( Taras) says its good : He must have a point
