Canon HV10

Before I rush out to buy the Canon HV10 Hi Def camcorder, I have 2 questions. 1) Should I be concerned that the camcorder does not have an HDMI port and assume I will do well with Firewire ? 2) Will the iMovie on my Mac support HD content ? I read a newspaper article that says iMovie will support HD content but I am assuming that I will not then be able to transfer the iMovie to DVD until hi definition discs become mainstream. Is that correct ? THanks in advance.

Probably not, most HD ready Displays should be able to take an HD signal via component. Sonys HC1 only has component and I havent found that to be problem, so far but I would have loved HDMI That was implemented in the HC3 ( which has HDMI in addition)

Firewire is for transferring the video as data to a computer and is the standard for that.

The HD-DVD or BD discs originating from personal HD content are in the near future ( for the most part). People have been making Mini HD _DVD by burning appropriately authored material to standard DVD discs and playing them in HD DVD players with varying success. Ive read that HD material burnt to BD blanks will play in BD players ( also appropriately authored but I don't personally know anyone who has done it)
You will of course be able to make Standard def DVDs now ( By using HD material down converted to SD either in camera ( best) or in software
and
Your HD material is displayable via HTPC or on the PC (or Mac)
