I've read on camcorderinfo.com that when attempting to view/edit footage of .MOD files on a PC (after renaming them to .MPG of course) you often lose the audio track entirely. Can someone verify this is always the case and if it is not always the case can they tell me which editing and viewing software apps do not do this?

You shouldn't loose any audio, have you checked your viewing software is up to date?
