It's just sloppyness with model numbers. GZ-MG77EK is the UK model. Most of the listings in pricerunner under GZ-MG77 (without the EK) will actually be GZ-MG77EK. For example, one of the listings under GZ-MG77 is Amazon... if you click on their link you see it actually says GZ-MG77EK.

You might be better off with the MG57 as it has a video light but no flash (the light isn't brilliant anyway) where as the MG77 has a stills flash but no video light.

The pre set low light setting is completely useless with aprox 1 frame per second (what use is that)

Good light PQ and sound is good and I think better than reviews say.

Re: Difference between JVC GZ-MG77 and GZ-MG77EK?

I've got the MG77 and at first held my head in my hands at the poor quality of the video, but, once I had burnt it to DVD, it looked a lot better. The dark setting is as mentioned, a waste of time, tried to film a wedding reception and it was like looking at a webcam with a very slow connection, but leaving it as normal setting, the software allowed the brightness to be upped to an acceptable level, albeit a bit grey and washed out. Lack of a video light on the camera is not ideal though

I bought an aftermarket higher capacity battery (rather than JVC's ridiculously expensive ones) which has worked fine.
