Cannot get DVD from Pinnacle Studio 10 SE...

The first time I used Studio 10 SE (came free with camcorder) I managed to burn to dvd no problems. I tried last night with my Christmas footage, which includes my first foray into adding music etc and hit a snag. I've finished and saved my project, and can save it as a file to my HDD. If I try to output it as a DVD however, the DVD properties menu says that my system doesn't have a dvd burner. It also won't let me save the image to my HDD. If I select either of the buttons on the screen for Create DVD or to select the DVD burner destination the button presses down but nothing happens at all.

Nero can find my DVD burner fine, but in Windows explorer it's coming up as a CD drive - is this normal, or could it be my system is messing up somewhere rather than Pinnacle? Surely if this was the case though I should still be able to save the DVD image?

Is this a bug, or something I'm doing wrong?

Having the DVD drive reported as a Compact Disc in Windows explorer is normal.

Unfortunatly, having problems with Pinnacle Studio is also normal...
Senu might be able to help you out there...

Even if you dont have a DVD burner you should still be able to burn as a DVD folder or image
You may lose your Menu but Why not try outputting to Mpeg2 then using Nero Vision to author the DVD? for starters

Thanks Senu! I can save it to file no probs, so saved it to DV-AVI and then used Nero to burn it (well, hopefully - it's transcoding as I type!)...I've really got no idea what's causing the issue...guess it's time to reinstall Studio 10!

Re: Cannot get DVD from Pinnacle Studio 10 SE...

You can reinstall it but

It may still play up

You will not be able to benefit from the update patches if you have an SE version

Even those with the full version and its patches are not all happy bunnies
Therefore
Try but not too hard and PM me if it proves maximally uncooperative
or
Start seeking alternatives:
While its ease of use is a huge selling point, Its flakiness is a huge and may be enough to encourage you to learn less intuitive (initially) but more dependable alternatives

I keep hoping ver 11 will be completely be rewritten from scratch but many have defected ( permanently) from it!

Re: Cannot get DVD from Pinnacle Studio 10 SE...

The only reason I'm using it is because it came free with my camcorder, and as that was an unexpected gift I hadn't budgeted for buying any other software, you're right though - when working it is easy to use and very intuitive...

...on the plus side, rather than reinstall I installed the 10.7 patch (was on 10.5) from their website, and now burning works like a charm!
