Connecting sony camcorder

Hey guys,

I have just bought the sony HDR-HC3E camcorder from japan (pikey) and have tried to connect it to my mac (older g3) and pc but both times it wont work. I am using a good quailty firewire cable and when i connected it both times, it said on the lcd screen dv-in iwire so it shows it reads it. The camera did not come with any cd software do you guys reckon i need to get hold of some and install it? any help would be much appreiated.

Re: Connecting sony camcorder

I'm not a MAC user so can't be very specific, but some things to consider:

The HC3 can shoot HDV or DV... it can also convert HDV to DV. HDV and DV use different devices on the PC (at least under windows), and many editing applications have different applications or settings for capturing HDV or DV. Most likely it is something like you have shot HDV but are using a capturing program which expects DV.
