Benifits Hardrive over dvd camcorder? (newbie question)

I figured that the HD would be more hassle i.e record then burn to dvd to watch?
Wouldn't recording onto dvd then being able to watch direct from that disc be easier?

Is it all to do with editing?

Am i missing something

Ben

Re: Benifits Hardrive over dvd camcorder? (newbie question)

At best quality you only get 20 minutes of video onto a camcorders small DVD disc. A HDD cam will be able to record many hours of video to its internal HDD.
A DVD can be put into most DVD players to watch but a HDD cam needs to be connected directly to the TV or video copied from it onto VHS/DVD to watch.

There are many pros & cons of both types of cam. You just need to work out which types is best for you. If you want to edit the video then they are about the same as the video is recorded in the same format on both types of cam.

Mark.
