Sony HC90 vs HC44

I recently bought the Sony HC 44. I am only an occasional user, and it seems to fit the bill.

However, now that last years higher end model (HC90) can be had for £149, I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to this. I am sure I could sell the HC44 for £150, so it would be a no cost upgrade.

Looks like the main advantage is an upgrade to a 3MP CCD?

Would it be worth it?

An HC90 for £149? Yes it would be worth it. That is a steal.

The 3 MP CCD gives you better stills, which is one of the advantages of the HC90. But there are others:

- The physically larger CCD (1/3" vs. 1/5.5") produces better video; especially in low light.

- It has video and DV input, which you may find useful.

The HC90 is very similar in performance to the HC96.. and the HC96 is clearly better than the HC44.

After you've bought yours tell us where you got it from.. for that price I'm tempted to pick one up...

Re: Sony HC90 vs HC44

Hi Mark,

Thanks very much for the swift reply. I have ordered it, but it sounds as though they are out of stock now.

Still, at least I am in the 'queue' should they get any more in.

This price is at Empire Direct:
