Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Patch - does it work?

Pinnacle have just released their 10.7 patch which should, amongst other things, sort out some of the issues with 16x9 menus. There were several problems with vers 10.6 not playing menu's and or disc content on certain players. Has any one else tried a chaptered project in a variety of players?
I am currently burning a project to test in my domestic Pioneer player but that played ver 10.6 discs with out problems.
Before any one starts Pinnacle bashing I am well aware of the issues that some have with this software but it is a very quick and easy program if you can get it to work for you.
Matt

Re: Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Patch - does it work?

Me and my big mouth!
Pinnacle 10.7 seems to have a burning issue in that it comes up with a burning failed message whenever I burn a project and will not eject the DVD from the drive. I have to manually open the drive and then the disc with the alleged failed burning will play on my Pioneer domestic player, on a PC via WMP 10, Nero Showtime 3 and WinDVD 5. It will only play the audio form the menu but no video or any content on Power DVD ver 5.
My Sony Vaio that I use for burning has just had an update that is supposed to fix some issues with burning on DVD-RW discs but I have tried -R and get the same burning error message.
Any one else got probs?

Re: Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Patch - does it work?

Thanx .. I downloaded but stopped short of installing it . 10.6 works fine

Try and see if youc an burn a disc image (ISO ) or DVD folder to your HDD
You can then use Nero to burn it later and see if you got yourself a "proper " disc.
I do that anyway as it is the easier way to make multiple copies ( and bypass these irritating burning issues which affect all software from time to time

Re: Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Patch - does it work?

Just to check it wasn't a corrupted download I downloaded the full 10.7 update instead of the light version for 10.6 users. Makes no difference, it still claims a disc burning error but does actually burn the DVD. I then have to fiddle around to actually eject the disc.
I then copied the actual burned DVD with Nero and it works fine. I am now trying to just create the disc image with Pinnacle and then import the file into Nero 7 for burning.....
It has just finalized the disc and actually ejected from my drive! It plays as it should so the issue is with Pinnacle 10.7 rather than my hardware.
Cheers for the suggested work around Senu. Doing it that way is actually faster than it was burning with Pinnacle 10.6.
I must say that Pinnacle have dealt with the menu issues that I had in 10.6 but in fixing that they have created a burning issue.
As an aside they claim that with 10.7 you can burn HD DVD's with an SD burner and disc, that will play on an HD DVD player. It appears that you can fit 24 minutes of HD content on an SD disc. Any thoughts?

Re: Pinnacle Studio 10.7 Patch - does it work?

Its nice you can make an HD DVD disc ( albeit a mini one) but not at the expense of software stability.
I believe the latest version of Ulead MovieFactory can do that too ( Ver 5 has a SP1) and Ver 5 plus is out , but they seem to veer more towards making Blu ray discs.
( I have a BD disc recorder on my system unable to do anything with it.. for now.)

I have read that HD DVD mini HD-DVDs can be made from authoring HD material to a Standard DVD disc which will then play on an HD DVD player.
As I dont own a Toshiba HD DVD player ( yet) or a PC software emulator Im not sure if this is fact or aspiration but whatever plays it has to recognise the HD DVD folder as a valid video and not data folder

Lasers post here touches on that
