Mini DV Cassettes and Airports

My HC3 has arrived

So its off to Greece for my daughters wedding and with a bit of luck some HD tapes to watch when we get back. My worry is the return flight - is there a problem when passing the tapes through the security scanner!

I can't afford to go back and do it again if they are all erased

You won't have any problem. There is no abberation conected to Magnetic fields involving x-rays. I've done lots of travelling with tapes and not had a problem.

Re: Mini DV Cassettes and Airports

I've also never had any problems with the x-ray machines at airports. I've put 35mm film, analogue video8 tapes, miniDV tapes and compact flash memory cards through them and none of them have ever been affected.
I think the only 'danger' from the x-ray machines is if they are old and not working correctly. But with the high levels of security required at airports these days I doubt any dodgy machines would be kept in service.

Mark.
