Pinnicle Studio + 10 Patch

Hi

Having raised issues yesterday regarding problems with Pinnicle Studio + 10 Version. I have decided to uninstall the software and try reinstalling it. I know I have to down load a tool to clear the registration which I have done and I am also aware that I have to download a patch can any one tell me whether I have to download the patch before I reinstall the software or after and how does the patch work will the software automatically pick up the patch or do I have to do something with.

I wait for your advice.

Vickip

Re: Pinnicle Studio + 10 Patch

Sorry you are having this problem. I had hoped you would just go ahead and capture without problems, While there is no harm in doing what you are : re-installling : Are you doing so because you cannot get to enable Dv capture? If so does the software not give you an option to repair rather than reinstall?

The RegDelete Patch is supposed to remove all traces of the previous install from the registry which the "normal" uninstallation does not remove.
The persistence of these files ( or registry entries) can affect the reinstall
The Pixie tool which keeps registration details may also need to be removed: This hopefully will be done by the RegDelete Ver10

You may want to delete the Pinnacle folder from Program files before reinstalling (unless you have more than one Product from Pinnacle (including Stienberg)
Deleting the Pinnacle folder also means you may need to reactivate the software, If you previously had to. If in doubt leave it unless you still cant get the software to behave after a reinstall

The order:
The software is uninstalled, the PC rebooted, then the registry cleaning patch is run,
The PC rebooted (+/- deleting the Pinnacle folder) and then the software reinstalled.
You can then run the 10.6 update patch after the reinstall.
The update patch will look for The studio executable Studio .exe to indicate that there is something to update
HTH

Re: Pinnicle Studio + 10 Patch

I hope you have some joy with your re-install

Win DV is a small free utility which you can capture DV with.
It splits scenes too and its AVIs can be used in any NLE including Studio.

For HDV ( later on) there is HDV split and CapDVHS explained here
