As per title.

Thanks for spotting that first review. I am seriously tempted to upgrade my VX2100 for one of these.

But the review lacks substance as it fails to metion key points such as low light performance, viewfinder or even sound performance.
You could hardly use this review as the basis to spend £3K and buy one.

True,..... but it was a fairly lengthy review and comprehensive in many other respects.
All thru the review he was trying to compare this camcorder with the Z1 in areas where he thought there was enough of a difference.
As such it may be inferred that on those key points it is on par with the Z1.

However you wouldnt normally part with £3K on the basis of one review would you?

Re: Review of Sony HVR-V1E

We already know that low light performance will not compare to the VX2100 or even the Z1, as the V uses 1/4 CMOS chips instead of 1/3 inch CCD's. The audio is also hampered by HDV compression rates but I tend to use offboard audio in most cases anyway.

This is a camera for a specific need, but it is not a 'do all' camera by any means. We're not going to really see that for a few generations of HDV kit, until the low light performance can be greatly improved, and that is tricky with such a high pixel density to light on chip.
