problem importing dv

I have tried importing off two tapes off my new Panasonic NV-GS15EB but had the same problem each time.

There are no dropped frames reported but after importing 23minutes off the tape there was only 15minutes of footage on the computer.

When i looked through it it is all jumpy, both audio and video skip very often. When i tried importing off an older camera and with a different tape it was fine though.

I have a VIA OHCI IEEE 1394 Host Controller and can't seem to find any updates for this. The tape is also fine when played back on the camera so at least the original footage is fine.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.
