Exclamation Honeymoon Video Help Req'd!

Hi all,

I'm having a mare trying to watch our honeymoon video.

We've got a Sony DCR-DVD755 camcorder that records straight to 8cm DVDs.

We have 3 cds of our honeymoon, but only one of the disks is readable in the DVD player (Snazio 1350)

The one that is readable plays beautifully-full screen/nice & clear, etc.

The other 2 just sit there while the Snaz says "Reading Disk"

The only difference between the disks is that the disk that plays fine is a DVD+ R & the two that won;t read are - Rs.

I have finalised the disks in the camcorder, & can play them on my PC using Power DVD, I can even stream them to my TV in the living room by sharing the CD Rom drives in Snazio software (they come out in 4:3 though )

This is a brand new camcorder that was bought for our honeymoon, & I wanted to be able to record things then play them straight away (or take them to someone's house & use their DVD player)

Surely that's not too much to ask from a DVD camcorder?

All help & advice gratefully received!

Cheers.

PS-The recordings were made in VR mode if that's any help?

[Edit]-All 3 disks were created in VR Mode, but the only one I can put straight into the DVD player & watch is the DVD+R.

VR mode is only for editing in the camcorder when you are using -RW discs. Most DVD players will not play discs recorded in VR mode. If you want to play the discs in most DVD players you must record in video mode. Have a look in your manual. There should be a table explaining the differences between VR and video mode, and -R, -RW and + RW formats.
All is not lost however. What you can do now is:
1. Connect the camcorder to a DVD recorder using the A/V cable and record the footage onto a 12cm DVD.
2. Transfer the footage from the 8cm DVD to your PC and using a DVD authoring program, burn a 12cm DVD.
Both ways should give you a DVD that will play on most DVD players, and you can put all of the footage from the 3 8cm DVDs onto 1 12cm DVD.
In future, record in video mode and your DVDs should play on the DVD player after finalising.

Regards, Mike

Excellent, thanks Mike!

I don't have a DVD Recorder, so I would need to transfer it using option 2 above-do you have any recommendations for software?

Many thanks-makes much more sense now!

Re: Honeymoon Video Help Req'd!

There are some free utilities such as DVD Shrink that will do this. It will require some reading of the tutorial.
http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?...elect=6;65#897
Nero Vision, TMPGEnc DVD Author, Ulead Movie Factory (amongst others) will also do what you want, but arn't free. Most do give a free 30 day trial.
If you want to edit your movies (cut out bits, add titles, add soundtrack etc), I would recommend Ulead VideoStudio 10+. This also has a 30 day free trial.

DVD shrink is free and easy to use: Youll be up and running in no time.Still the link has a guide
UleadMoviefactory5 is not free.
However it doesnt cost much It can do more than Nero vision and is both cheaper than and easier to use than TMPGencDVD Author
