| Re: Digiscope with Camcorder
You'll need a spotting scope, a tripod (preferably a good one with a fluid head) , and a tube to attach the camcorder to the scope eyepiece. You may also need a support mechanism, a jointed bar or plate that screws into the scope tripod bush and which takes the weight of the camcorder.
Have a look on the Warehouse Express website for both kit and advice. You can also search under "Digiscoping" as there are a number of such type sites out there both UK and overseas.
Most digiscoping is of stills, typically a small digital camera is attached to a birdwatchers spotting scope. Many such photos make it into the birdwatching press particularly where a rarity is concerned.
I occasionally use my Sony DCR-PC1000E for digiscoping which fits directly to the eyepiece of my Swarovski scope via a threaded (28mm) tube plus 30mm to 28mm stepping ring. I need to set the cam to macro mode and manual focus, using the scope to focus the image. I need to zoom out as well to avoid vignetting. This provides on a 20x eyepiece enormous magnifications, something like 150x or more. Hence the need for a good tripod!
Cheers!
