Re: DVD Architect 4 Help needed

There are 2 steps in DVDA:

1. Prepare: This creates the DVD file structure (VIDEO_TS folder with .VOB files). In doing this DVDA will warn you if it thinks your video is too large to fit on a DVD, but it will still let you do it. If it is saying there is not enough space in the folder, that means there is not enough space on your hard disc. The Make DVD window will show you the "free space in selected folder". Clean up your hard drive, or select a different drive to use for the prepare.

2. Burn: This actually burns the DVD. If you are using a single layer disc, it needs to be less than 4.7 GB. If you are using a dual-layer disc then it can be 9.4 GB, and DVDA can add the layer break for you. But if you want to split it over 2 different single layer discs, you will need to author this as 2 separate discs. I.e. take your main movie and split it into 2 parts in Vegas. Then author a disc in DVDA for part 1, and another for part 2.

Note when you select "Make DVD" and select "Burn", it gives you a choice to burn a folder you already prepared, or to do the prepare step and then immediately burn.

Of course the other thing you can do is change the bitrate to make your whole movie fit on a single 4.7 GB disc, but this impacts the quality. How much of an impact depends on how long it is (and thus the bitrate required).

Re: DVD Architect 4 Help needed

You need to render out 2 different videos in Vegas – part 1 and part 2. A couple of ways to do this, both involving selecting a region:

1. (Keep it one .veg file): Click and drag above the timeline to select the region for the first half of the movie. Render this out to .mpeg and .ac3, making sure to tick the box saying “render loop region only”. Now do the same selecting the second half of the movie (perhaps with a few seconds overlap), and render out part 2.

2. (2 .veg files): As option 1, but this time make 2 copies of your Vegas project (.veg file). In one of these, delete the 2nd half of the movie (easiest way is to select the region and delete), so all you have is part 1. Render this out. In the other file, delete the first half of the movie, so all you have is part 2. Render this out.

An external USB drive will come with a USB cable, you simply follow the installation instructions. And yes, if you are out of space on your system drive this will solve your problem.
