Sony HDRC1 Camcorder.Problem transferring memory stick to DVD-R

I have just transfered from my memory stick 76 wide screen 16X9 images to my computer and burned them onto a DVD-R Disc.My Denon 2910 DVD player immediately recognised the Disc and started playing the stills,however they are not in proper widescreen as there is a black band at the top and bottom of the TV screen.The TV is set to 16X9 and the Denon is set to Pal and widescreen. Playing back the still images direct from the memory stick into the Tv and a proper widescreen picture returns.Any ideas what the problem is and how it can be corrected?

P.S. The connection to the computer is with the usb connection and connection from the Denon is HDMI into the tv
