full quality replay

in an article in digital video techniques on the sony kdl-26s2010 26in tv it said resolution is limited to 1366x768 meaning the highest possible quality the set can display is 720p.as many cams record in1080p there wont be the full quality replay.
my set and most i have checked are 1024x768 my hc-1e records 1080i,i know 1080i is i think 25 frames per second and 1080p 50 per second will my set display full quality replay,i dont know of any 1080p cams how much more resolution is there with them.
thanks chris

Re: full quality replay

Chris,

1080i and 1080p are the same resolution: 1920x1080. The difference of course is “i” is interlaced, “p” is progressive. Both can have various framerates. The 1080i your HC1 shoots is 1080-50i – so 50 “half frames” per second, interlaced. 1080p can be 24 frames per second, 25 frames per second… etc. 1080-50p does exist, but only a few high end camcorder shoot it.

So back to your question: To see the full resolution from your HC1 you need a 1920x1080 display. On a 1366x768 it will still look very good, but it isn’t the full resolution.

Last detail: The HDV the HC1 shoots is actually 1440x1080 anamorphic, which gets displayed as 1920x1080 on a 1080i (or 1080p) screen.
