Re: DV AVI on Samsung HD 950

The Samsung 950 does not play DV AVI as such and I dont think any DVD player does as they are hardware mpeg decoding machines basically

It will play divx, xvid, mp4 as avi as it has divx decoder capabilities.
But you will need to turn your DV AVI into a DVD otherwise.
Given that 1 hr of video in DV AVI format is 13Gb why would you want to play a DV AVI thru a DVD player?.You would be lucky to get more than 18min on a 4.7Gb disc!.

The data size and bitrate would be unwieldy. A DV tape playing to TV is streaming at about 25Mb/Sec. DVD maximum rate is about 9Mb/sec!

Even a data DVD with mpeg2 files is unlikely to play ( although I havent tried it and my lillte potable Tevion actually plays those)
Otherwise it will play , SACD and DVD-A, Audio Cds, CD or DVD rom with WMA, MP3, jpegs amongst others
Like DV AVI, It will not also play Wmv or Quicktime ,real*™ video file formats
