How to show date when outputing DV?

I've just bought a Canon MVX460 - my first digital camcorder. My old analogue camcorder had an option to burn the date into the video when recording. I used this so I could have a date record on the bottom right of the screen when making my home movies using Pinnacle.

With DV I know the time code is part of the recording and is sent when transferred to Pinnacle via Firewire. However I can't find a way to have the date visible on the tranferred video and so part of any home movie.

Can this be done?

Thanks

Well, you are right that the data is transferred, so you'd think this would be a standard feature of all editors, right? It doesn't seem to be. Sony Vegas (which I use) doesn't do this. I can see the date of a clip when editing (and manually add some text with the date), but there is no function to display it automatically. I'm not sure if Pinnacle has this feature or not.

Here is some free software that does it

Thanks - that software does a fine job. It's just a shame I've got that extra step just to add a date to the movie!
