Do I need to upgrade to Premier Elements 2 (from v1)?

Hi,

I've been using Premier Elements for a while now and am very happy with pretty much everything about it - it's stability on my pc, it's features, it's ease of use etc - but I am aware that Premier Elements 2 is out and an upgrade version is available. What extra features does v2 provide over v1? Is it worth forking out another 40 quid or so to upgrade? What am I missing?

Thanks,

Re: Do I need to upgrade to Premier Elements 2 (from v1)?

I haven't used either version of Premiere Elements, but IIRC when version 2 was released a few others asked this question and were told by a couple of others that they didn't think it was worth upgrading as the new version offered very few advantages.
Besides, v2 has been out for a while now and the chances are that v3 is only a little way off. Wait until that is released and then see if it offers enough extras over v1 to warrent upgrading. But you say you are happy with what it can do so why pay out money just to get the latest version. IMO you should only upgrade if a new product does something you want to do and what you have does not.

Mark.

Re: Do I need to upgrade to Premier Elements 2 (from v1)?

I have used both and can say that though similar, I enjoyed using v2 more because ( in part)
it allowed more input / output format support ( including MOD, Mpeg4 and DVD) and more video and audio effects ( and more templates) for DVD authoring.

I must stress I got it as a bundle with Photoshop Elements 4 as a present so I didnt bear the cost.

It is not a "must have" but is better than ver1. I do think its system requirements are more than V1 so look out for that if an upgrade is on your mind.

Im not sure when ver 3 will come as Ver2 really is less than 12 months old and apart from HD support, Im not sure they can improve it much more but.. who knows?
Bottom line? Your call

Re: Do I need to upgrade to Premier Elements 2 (from v1)?

Thanks folks. I am interested in the greater range of DVD authoring tools (I hear you can use moving pictures and sound for example) but is that worth the cost? My call indeed. Maybe I'll wait for Christmas.
