Budget camcorder advice please - Hard Disk maybe?

I'm using an eight year old Sony analogue camcoder and thought it was time to buy a digital one!

However my budget is tight with only 300 - 350 to spend. I was looking at hard disk camcoders (no tapes!) but I'm not sure if my budget will get one of good enough quality unless someone knows better!

The usage of the camcorder is for family event recording which I transfer to my PC, edit with Pinnacle 10 and output to DVD. I intend to continue with this.

Suggestions would be really welcome as all the different digital formats are a bit confusing!

Thanks in advance

In that price range I would advise you to go with a mini DV model. You can just about get a HDD model for that price but it will be an entry level model and not as good video quality as a "mid range" DV model you can get for the same price.

Take a look at the Canon MVX460.

Thanks for the response! I'll take a gander.
