Sony HDR-HC1E and Apple Imac G5

I need some help please.

What method should I use to upload video footage from my HC1E to an Apple Imac G5?

According to the manual I need to do it via "I Link"?

I don't think the G5 has an I Link socket? Only USB and Firewire. Sorry if this is a bit basic but I've never transferred video footage before so am not sure what I'm doing !

Any help would be gratefully received!

Yep, same conection just different names - and theres more of them

iLink = firewire = DV port = ieee1394 = MV port (only on microMV cams) = ????? (yep there are probably others that I have forgotten).

I'm not sure about on a Mac, but most desktop PC's have a six pin firewire connection and the cam will have a 4 pin firewire connection. Therefore you probably just need to get a 6 pin to 4 pin (or possibly 4 to 4, check the port first) firewire cable for under £10 (no advantage with expensive branded cables). It is also adviseable to get a cable no longer than 1.8m as longer cables are often problematic.

Mark.
