First Camcorder

Hi guys, well i'm buying my first camcorder, but do not know much about what I should be going for. Im on a budget of <£300 but may go above £300 if need be. What I would generally use it for is recording amature short films and the such that will need editing before being complete. I wondered what cam you would advise me to get, I have looked at the Canon mvx450/460, Panasonic nvgs37b and some sony ones but some i'm unsure if they're too much/not enough for my purpose, and others I couldnt find enough reviews to know if they're right for me or not. Any help would be appreciated
