Question Editing Software for new Canon Camcorder

Can you give me some advise. I have brought a new Canon MV940 Camcorder. I have never owned a camcorder before and haven't a clue about editing the DV tapes and making a DVD of my film.

Some advise on what is the easiest software to use for a total beginner with as few steps as possible to creating the finished disc.

Looking forward to reading your answers.

One of the easiest to use editing software programmes is Pinnacle's Studio 9 or 10. It is very graphical with easy to understand proceedures. I have recommended it to several of my friends who have never done any previous editing and they have ended up with very acceptable results.

The other advantage is the cost, usually around £60. It comes with a good manual and you can turn your finished masterpiece into a DVD straight from the programme.

Edited footage always wins over "straight from the camera" material.

Best of luck, welcome to the world of Non Linear Editing.

Cheers,

Gordon.

one of the easyest ( ought to have a sticky for this, or a faq ) is Ulead videostudio 10. Can be downloaded and used for a month to try out, then bought very cheaply. Can be used as a very easy make a dvd sort of thing, and can also be used as a pretty good fairly in depth editor, should you want to progress.

This thread should do for a sticky or FAQ

Easy to use, stable, and the unpredictable ( what do you personally like) all go hand in hand.

One thing youll soon find is that everybody has thier own favourites!

As such, one mans easy to use is another mans ( man or woman )

I agree ( in general )with the above 2 posts but read the linked thread and a few others like it in the forums youll find that many of your potential queries will have been answered .

Thumbs up Editing Software

Thanks Guys

I am just getting to grips with the new camcorder. Thanks for the the help with software, I'm sure which one to go with, so I might well download samples of the two types of software suggested and see which one I prefer.

I will let you know which one I decide on and how I get on with it, but first am going to buy a new computer.
