Camcorder playback

Can anybody explain why a tape recorded on camcorder A will not play back properly (sound breaking up) in camcorder B but will in camcorder C?

Is there a technical reason for this phenomenon?

This shouldn't happen, unless the recording was done in LP. If LP was used, this is common. It's because LP uses more of the tape than SP, and the "tracking" on each camcorder is slightly different. SP has enough buffer that this generally is not a problem.
