Sony "Click To DVD"

A friend of the missus has a recent Sony camcorder (can't remember the model) & is now wanting to burn some footage to DVD. The cam's menu has an option to burn to DVD but this seems to require the additional Click To DVD software to be loaed on the PC. Question is, where does this Click To DVD software come from? It's not included on the CD that came with the cam & I can't find it on Sony's site or by Googling. This leaves the impression that you can only use this facility if you also buy a Vaio.

The only other option available with the bundled software (Picture Maker?) is VCD & the end result of that is truly terrible. Can anyone shed any light on ths mysterious Click To DVD app?

You can only find it on a SONY VAIO laptop or desktop.

Like you I wondered if it could be found or work elsewhere:Still dont know and it seems Sony is ( as usual) unwilling to share it outside their own PC platform despite featuring it on their camcorder menus. They may quote software requirements but probably more likely just unwilling to let anyone else use it. As for Picture package ...urgh

Last week I went into the Sony centre ( Uxbridge) where I bought my HC1 ( which has it on its own menu) from to enquire about this "click to DVD " and see it in use on thier PCs.
Although being used at that precise time, they seemed to be less than willing to show me as I wasnt enquiring to buy a Vaio and I soon left in annoyance as I was put off by the arrogance of sales staff who were ignorant ( unable to give any resonnable info instead pointing me toward a Sony HD rolling demo on ther HD Bravias) , rude ( showed me the "do not touch" sign on thier PCs) and unhelpful considering I had just spent £1100-1300 there less than 2 month previuos
As useful as "click to DVD " seems I suspect getting proper software, transferring the video footage and making up a DVD with conventional software is just as good if not better.

Thanks Senu, that's what I feared. The attraction of this software is that it appears to offer a literal one step process to capture, render & burn without further intervention from the user. Very useful for a complete novice to start archiving.

Can anyone suggest something else that will do the same thing? albeit not from the cam's menu.

This will probably do it.

Nero vision 4 ( part of the Nero 7 package) too has an option to capture directly to DVD

Oh..before you ask.. honestly, I dont work for Ulead or Nero
