Sony HDR-UX1E Camcorder - Playback

I've been looking at the new Sony HDR-UX1E Camcorder, which records HD footage directly onto an 8cm DVD. What I'd like to know is, how do you play this DVD back in a PC? What software will play back AVCHD discs?

According to the Sony press release:

HD content recorded on DVDs with either the HDR-UX1 or HDR-SR1 models can be played back on Blu-ray Disc devices, such as the forthcoming Sony BDP-S1 player and PLAYSTATION® 3 video game console. Standard DVD drives on compatible PCs can also play back these DVDs with the bundled software.

Also:

Non-liner Editing Software Suppliers [Software Supporting AVCHD]

Adobe Systems Incorporated [Adobe ProductionStudio]
CyberLink Corporation [PowerDVD, PowerDirector
InterVideo, Inc. [Win DVD]
NeroAG[Nero 7 Premium (Nero 7 Ultra Edition)]
Sonic Solutions[Easy Media Creator 9]
Sony Media Software [Vegas 7.0
UleadSystems, Inc. [Video Studio, DVDMovieWriter]

Note that Vegas 7.0 doesn’t exist yet… but is due out around the time the camcorder is available.

I wonder if these AVCHD DVDs will play back in either Windows Media Player or QuickTime?

I would think that in time, yes... not sure if it will be there on day 1 of the camcorder release or not. (I don't think it is there already as the format was only announced a couple of months ago).
