Windows Movie Maker HD

Has anyone else tried WMM HD in the Windows Vista beta 2 yet?

I tried it tonight and whilst I know it's a beta, I expected more to be honest....

I plugged in my Sony HC3E and imported a load of footage in HD, which took an age - the real time of the tape (about 20 mins), then after the import had stopped, 30 mins whilst it was processing it....

It did make some attempt at scene detection, but not a particularly good one....

My main problem with it seems to be that although it will import HD footage fine, it seems to downsample it to low res (presumably that's what it was doing during the 30 mins processing) I could be missing something here, but I could see no obvious way to tell it not to do this!

What did look good was the output options, if you choose WMV, it has profiles already set up for stuff like xbox 360, 720p and 1080i.

If they fix the downconvert of footage, then this looks like it could be a nice simple way of processing HD footage....
