Problem with Gearshift and Vegas 6

Im trying to make a proxy dv video stream with gearshift in Vegas 6, ive loaded the 1 hour M2t clip onto the timeline, the size of the M2t is 11.6GB, i select PAL DV for the converted file, then click on "Entire timeline" within gearshift and click save it to a spare hard drive however the outputted file is comeing out at over 300GB!!!

Is this the correct size or have i got some settings wrong somewhere ?
i knew it was going to be big but an 11gb file into a 300gb one???
any help appreciated

Si

It's an issue with the default settings with Gearshift - it caught me the first time I used it too...

Gearshift has 2 drop down menus - one for proxy media, one for HD media. If you just want a proxy, you want to set the HD media to "none". Then all it will create a DV proxy of similar size to the original file. I think the default setting has it create an uncompressed HD file, hence the huge size....

Mark, thanks for the info earlier have fixed the problem, however have another slight one.
After doing the edit with the DV proxy streams in gearshift, i use Gearshift and swap back to the original media, when i go to render i select MPEG 2, 1080 50, but if i look at the audio settings in this template is says 48,000 should it be set to 44,100 ??

cheers
